Transitions There are several different types of transitions in film. They transfer one shot to another. The most common one you will find is the jump cut where the shot ends and is instantaneously replaced with then next. Fade Where the proceeding shot fades into black from which the following shot emerges. It can show tiredness or a passage of time. Dissolve or cross fade The proceeding shot emerges into the following shot, resulting in two shots being super imposed. It can show the association between a subject and another subject or a location. Wipe This is where one image is revealed over another horizontally, vertically, diagonally or even using a shape or pattern such as a diamond. It can show momentum and motion or can add to humour. Pace & Rhythm The duration of a shot can reflect the narrative context, conveying action and urgency in a car chase for example. For a slower paced and less intense scene shots will last longer. In 2014, 15-24 year olds made up the largest proportion of the UK cinema audience, at 31%.  ■ UK films were popular across all demographic groups, with a particularly strong appeal for those aged 55 and above. Cinema-goers in this age group also showed a strong preference for UK independent films. ■ 22 Jump Street had the largest above-average audience share among the 15-24 age group, while Mr. Turner had the largest share among cinema-goers aged 55 and above.  ■ A wide range of genres appealed to women, whereas men were drawn to films with a strong action element. ■ UK films attracted above-average audiences across the nations and regions with the exception of the South East and West and South West. ■ Black and minority ethnic groups were over-represented among cinema-goers, video rental and digital film consumers; disabled audiences were over-represented amongst video buyers. Camera Angles As well as Shot Types you have camera angles that co inside with the shot types. There are 5 Main types of Camera Angles, they are; The Birds-eye view, High Angle, Eye Level, Low Angle, Oblique/Canted. The Birds-eye view This camera angle shows a scene from directly above the subject(s). It is a strange angle as many objects from this angle are unrecognisable such as umbrellas in a crowd or dancers legs'. The use of this angle is to put the audience in a position of dominance and or higher power, godlike. The subjects may seem ant like giving them minimal significance, or to be shown as part of a greater scheme such as war. High angle This camera angle is a lot less extreme compared to a birds-eye view due to the large difference in altitude. The camera may be held by a crane to give an overview of the general scene.
